At some point or another, I think everyone that is on Facebook has pondered about it's significance in their lives. Or at least I would hope so, considering how much of each other's information is passed around on the site.
I've come to the realization that I've been on Facebook since 2004/2005....that's five or six years of my life that has (in a very particular way) been documented. And oh my, the highs and lows of those years. Sheesh.
All you hear about Facebook in the news these days are negative views of its invasion of privacy. All I have to say to that is....you're on the internet...posting things about yourself. Nothing is truly private.
I'm not a hater though. If I was, I wouldn't be on Facebook. If you have a problem with privacy, be vigilant about what you post, or stay off Facebook entirely. Sounds logical enough, doesn't it?
In fact, I love the fact that I'm still in touch with so many people. If not for the site, I wouldn't still be close with friends from high school and college, and I wouldn't be able to see how things are going with some of my family members, which is important to me since I live quite far from them.
I wouldn't get to share all of the great experiences I've had. Essentially we all get the chance to live vicariously through each other. Other friends' photos and videos have definitely had an influence over new places I want to visit and new activities that I want to give a try.
It's not all as narcissistic as we make it out to be, in my humble opinion.

I love facebook. It's had a negative and positive influence on my life. Not interested in the movie, though. Watching how a rich kid became richer, and then fought with other rich kids over money isn't my cup of tea. Harry Potter FTW!
You gotta give the guy props though...it was a great idea, and he has some balls to have pulled some of the shit he's pulled!
