Thursdays. It's such a hopeful time of the week...mostly because the work week is almost over. Back in the days I was a huge fan of Thirsty Thursdays, but alas, I'm getting older, and have opted to make my Thursdays a tad more productive.
I had some initial errands to run after work yesterday, which took up a couple of hours just getting around in rush hour traffic. After this, I had made up my mind that I ABSOLUTELY HAD TO WORK OUT. If you've ever had one of those weeks that you've just felt fucking fat...well, that's where I was earlier this week. I haven't gained any, just maintained what I initially lost, but I will be DAMNED if I'm going to gain any of it back when, in fact, I want to lose some more! So, I worked out. I feel thinner today (it's all in my head, but hey, do what you gotta do to combat the seasonal affect that is trying to kick my ass). Fuck you, seasonal affect...you're going down.
I hopped in the shower, then decided that I just hadn't done enough for the day. On to my Christmas cards. If you're lucky enough to receive a Christmas card from me, here's your warning...my cards are absolutely adorable. The best part of putting together my cards was that I got to sit and watch tv at the same time. And guess what was on...the epitome of 80's movies...The Breakfast Club. Oh, John Hughes, where would American culture be without your 80's magic. Watching it has it's charms when it comes to hilarity. Mostly because it's outdated. Take this scene for example:
EAT...MY...SHORTS.
I'm pretty sure if you took that scene and put it in modern day teen slang, it would ring more to the tune of, "SUCK...MY...DICK."
But what about the dance scene in that movie....how can you not love watching Molly Ringwald kicking up her heels? And the deep conversations they all have at the end...it's like a group therapy session...and everyone magically falls for each other and starts making out in front of their parents. Sigh.
And as if that was enough for the day...I proceeded to make cookie dough for a cute holiday party I'm going to this weekend. Kicking ass and taking names over here.
Oh, and did I mention that I got all artsy fartsy on Wednesday night? Check out my killer Christmas tree:
And I finally got to work on a shadowbox project I had been wanting to do for about a month. I have about a million horse show ribbons just sitting around in boxes. I can't throw them away, so what the hell am I going to do with them? Tada! Now hanging on my living room wall:
Of course I ended up burning a few of my fingers on hot glue in the process, but I think it was worth it.
Next on the list of productive-ness...cooking:
1.) Creme Puff cookies (for the holiday party this weekend - they are like snickerdoodles, only better!)
2.) "Puppy Chow" - if you are from the Midwest, you probably know what this is, if not, expect to see an explanation in a future post
Song of the day: "I'm A Lady" Santogold (cause I feel all chipper)
