Great Expectations? Or An American Tragedy?

How about both!

I finally finished Great Expectations...it only took me two months to get through it. Ridiculous, I know. It's not even a long book. AND it's quite interesting. And sort of tragic too.

Oh, Dickens, how you love to toy with our emotions.

No, the reason that it took me awhile to read is that I have been spending quite a bit of time away from my apartment staying busy. Even keeping myself busy during lunch, which is when I do a majority of my reading as well. So, it has been nice to finally get back to it.

The nicest thing that I have stumbled upon in recent months is this lovely little used bookstore down the street from my office. There's something amazing about being able to pick up a book for $2.50. Which is exactly what I did with both of these books. Prior to that I was spending way too much money buying new books from Barnes & Noble...the way I see it, old books need some love too!

I'm almost half way through An American Tragedy, and loving every minute of it. It's basically a story of a young man that is overly ambitious, rises from nothing, and then loses it all. A somewhat good reminder of how we shouldn't take advantage of things...sometimes you need to be happy with the small stuff!

Anyway, to all you faithful readers out there, sorry that I've been M.I.A. lately...the holidays have a way of sucking up all of my time and attention. But no worries, I've been storing up all of my rants and raves for you! Should make for an interesting week :).
