In the spirit of full disclosure, I feel it only fair to let those of you who don't work in the online trafficking analytics world to know....I can see you. No, not physically! I can see what town you're in though.
As in, if you are viewing my blog from some remote spot or random town in particular (and I happen to know who you are and where you live or where you are visiting), I can probably tell that you're the person reading. Not so much the case if you're reading from a large city, or if you're from a geographic location where I've lived in the past where I have higher traffic due to association (Indiana, Arizona, Washington, and California are where my highest traffic comes from).
To give you a little illustration, I will show you a screenshot from Google Analytics. PLEASE NOTE: Since I come from the trafficking world, I will just say that this analytics tool freaking blows, but....IT'S FREE. I sure as hell am not going to spend any money on keeping track of this blog...I do it for fun, it's a great outlet, but that's where it ends. I already have enough hobbies that make me go for broke!
I just want to let everyone out there know that I don't abuse this information in anyway. It's very vague info, and I like it like that. It's interesting to see the trends...what topics people seem to like best, how much time they spend on pages, what sites they visit from. All of this information is non-specific to a user as far as this tracking goes, but the summary traffic information gives me a decent idea of what's going on.
Like this...I find the shot below to be pretty cool...some random people are stumbling across my pages in other countries. Albeit a small amount of traffic, some from friends living overseas, some...well who knows!
Anyway, I only thought it fair that you all get to see what I can see =). I respect everyone's privacy, and hope that you all continue to check in here and there to see what crazy shit happens to me next! I <3 my readers!
On another note, I have an exciting long weekend in Portland starting tomorrow with a couple of friends. And then I'm excited to get back and finally have some free time to hang out and chill with everyone...just kick back a little. I have a lovely dinner planned with engineer guy next week, and indie boy has been great about keeping in touch (although I get the feeling we might be slipping into the friend zone, but hell if I know...too early to tell). I kind of figure that when it comes to seeing multiple people it doesn't take too long to find out who fits best, but it's more of a challenge when I don't have the time to get to know them better. We shall see...I'm not one to lead anybody on, and dammit...it's just too hard and confusing and time-consuming to date more than one person!
Anyway, this is probably all you will hear of me for a few days, so I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. (Portland stories to come.....)
Cheers!
