"I put in new zipper for you"

Ever have one of those moments where you look at a particular person and think, "Wow?"

I had one of those yesterday.

I was taking my very expensive European field boots (riding boots) in to the shoe repair shop to get a new zipper on one of them. For those of you unfamiliar with field boots, this is what they look like, and the nicer ones tend to have a zipper in the back, making them obviously easier to put on and take off since they come all the way up to your knees and are supposed to be snug on your calves.

I had never been into this repair shop before, so I didn't really know what to expect. I CERTAINLY didn't expect for the owner to stroll on out of the back with a tie-dyed tank top on, mountains of chest hair sticking out, and sporting a deep Russian-style accent when he asked, "What can I do for you?"

Is it wrong that I instantly envision this store as being a front for the Russian mafia? My brain really needs to stop stereotyping and formulating this shit....one of these days it's going to come back and bite me in the ass.

I'm pretty sure I had to take a little bit of time to regroup (and think to myself, "Wow, this is priceless"). I explained the issue and he replied with, "I put in new zipper for you...like brand new." (insert Russian accent, of course) SWEET. And priceless...well, not priceless, but $75 is a small price to pay for fixed boots and an interesting encounter. Colorful people keep my imagination going. Keep 'em coming!

Song of the day: "Hands" The Dutchess & The Duke (cause it sounds like it could be the background music to a Russian mafia movie)
