One-a-day

I've been feeling like shit the past couple days (hence the absence of my posting yesterday). When I say feeling like shit, I mean that queasy, nauseous, head pounding, slovenly, dead-weight feeling.

Why I've been feeling like shit:

1.) It's hotter than hell in Seattle at the moment. Record high temps...over 100 degrees yesterday. Now, I just moved here this year from Phoenix, so I always get this remark, "Oh, you must be completely used to this already." FUCK NO, I'M NOT USED TO THIS. Sure in Phoenix the summer temperatures are over 100 degrees for about 3 months straight, but down there the buildings employ this dandy little feature known as AIR CONDITIONING. Seattle isn't prepared for a heat wave...the city is used to summer temperatures that maybe reach 80's, but usually stick around the high 70's. Normally AC just isn't necessary. All I have to combat this heat is a high powered fan. When at home, dog and I share a position right in front of it, and only move whenever necessary. My poor horse though, he's just screwed. It's so muggy out where he is...he's sweating just from standing in his stall, so I have to go out in the evening and hose him off. You'd think, "Well, he came from Arizona too, he should be used to the heat." Horse thinks, "FUCK NO, I HAD MISTERS AND A FAN ON ME IN ARIZONA."

2.) I've been working out like there's no tomorrow. Every day, multiple times a day sometimes. Sometimes, you just crash because your body can't handle it all. Which brings me to reason number....

3.) I haven't been taking my vitamins. You see, I have this lovely thing called iron-deficiency anemia. It doesn't normally mean shit, but when you're trying to work out every day, and the temperature is up, and you're sweating alot, well...it can make you pretty weak. So, I just crashed, to put it mildly. My doctor's cure has been for me to take prenatal vitamins, and I had been on them for 3 months. If nothing else, my hair and nails have been growing out nicely. Well, the vitamin bottle had 90 pills in it, and even though I have been to the store a million frickin times since I ran out, I just hadn't cared enough to pick them up, or would just totally forget about buying some more. So, I've been off of the vitamins for a month, and just this past week it has wreaked a little havoc on my body. My nose started bleeding for no fucking reason a few days back...always a good sign. And I've been starting to get that craving...the craving that is most associated with iron-deficiency...ICE EATING! When I first found out I was anemic, I didn't even realize that this habit had any association with the deficiency. It was random...when I was working at my building in Phoenix, I would run upstairs a couple times a day to the ice machine and fill up a large cup completely full of ice. Not the really hard cubed kind, but that awesome crunchy soft kind...and I WOULD DEVOUR THE WHOLE DAMN CUP FULL. And then....I WOULD GO BACK FOR MORE! NOM NOM NOM!

So, the lesson to be learned...ladies especially, if you feel yourself crashing alot, you probably should have your doctor check to see if you're anemic. I think it's approximately 1 in 5 adult women that have this same issue. And overall, take your damn vitamins. If you're like me and you're forgetful, put them next to something routine...I put mine right between my toothbrush and my contact cases, otherwise, I wouldn't give it the time of day.

And avoid the heat if at all possible. That's always a plus.
