It's pretty much a free-for-all. Just how many damn cars can we squeeze on each street...ON BOTH SIDES of the street, which basically makes a two-lane street into one-lane.
So, what do you do when you meet a car coming from the opposite direction? Well, if you're like me, it's time for a good old game of "chicken." I like to keep right on driving ahead, as if that other car doesn't exist. "That's right, driver...you BETTER get your ass out of my way."
And it's quite easy for me to get away with this, because I drive a nice large SUV....and everyone else in Seattle drives a damn Subaru.
Typical Seattle-ite vehicle:
My vehicle (in comparison):
Fucking Subaru doesn't stand a chance =).
Another interesting parking fact about Seattle. They back into angled spaces, which I have heard is safer, but I, personally, am not buying it.
And when it comes to driving in general...people in Seattle drive SLOOOWWWW....in the LEFT LANE. Ri-goddamn-diculous. It's the passing lane, folks. If you're not passing, then you shouldn't be in it.
There are bad drivers everywhere, of course. I remember my driving irritation in Phoenix was the fact that people didn't seem to get the concept of merging onto the freeway....as in, GET UP TO THE SPEED OF TRAFFIC SO YOU CAN MERGE. "Merge" meaning that you don't fucking stop traffic and make it necessary for someone to let you in.
Anyway, best of luck to all of you drivers out there...and if you live in Seattle, be sure to watch out for that tan Tahoe with the Purdue license plate cover, especially on the residential streets. The lady driving it doesn't believe in braking.

I used to live in Seattle too and hated fearing for my life everytime I needed to turn a corner and couldn't see if anyone was coming because of all the cars parked on the street. That's why I moved to the Eastside. More room for horses too...
P.S. I LOVE the pictures you find to put on your blog! Very creative.
Well, I have to say that I do like living over here in the city, mostly because of proximity to work and nightlife, but I definitely get to enjoy the east-side as well, because that is where my horse is!
P.S. Thanks for the compliment =).
