Tomorrow is my 10-year high school reunion.
Damn. I feel old.
When I look back and remember how I felt during my senior year of high school, the main point that comes into mind is HOW MUCH I COULDN'T WAIT TO GET OUT. Out of high school, out of Greene County, and eventually out of the Midwest completely.
Well, I must say...in this...I HAVE CERTAINLY SUCCEEDED. Let's face it, I'm pretty much as far away as you can get without leaving the continental U.S..
I was also getting ready to go to school at Purdue University to become a veterinarian. PSHAH! We all see how that one turned out...seeing as I've been working for websites for the past 5 years. Just goes to show you that you don't always know everything about yourself at 18. TRUST ME....THINGS CHANGE.
One major difference between then and now....I always had a boyfriend back in those days. Not so much now. I am so single I think I honestly need to come up with a more serious term to specify to what degree I'm single....I'll call it "chronically single." You see, "chronically" means there is still a slice of hope that there is someone out there that I can handle being with for an extended period of time. Now, if I ever get to calling myself "terminally single"...hell, I will just throw in the towel.
I have embraced my freedom a lot over the past few years though, and like to think there's a reason for all of it. It's actually an amazing feeling knowing that I can be self-reliant. And all in all, I wouldn't trade my life for the world. It could be much worse, and I'm very grateful for all that I've learned as time has passed by.
Who knows what else is in store for this girl, but I sure hope it's an adventure, whatever it is =).
Have a great holiday weekend and Happy Independence Day, everyone!
Song of the day: "Eclipse" Metric (cause I just saw the movie last night and it was awesome...and I love Metric, duh.)
