Seabiscuit makes me cry

By now, you all should know that I love watching movies. And I'm infamous for watching my favorite ones over and over again...I know, you think it would be overkill, but I can't help myself.

I threw in Seabiscuit the other night (cause I was feeling in a horsey mood...BIG SURPRISE) after I finished running errands and working out. Now, if you don't know the story of Seabiscuit, I'm not going to give you the full breakdown....he and his jockey (Red Pollard) both had a tendency of beating the odds...times were tough...yadda yadda....you get the drift. Here's a trailer of the movie, if you're interested:

SHIT...I CAN'T EVEN WATCH THE TRAILER WITHOUT FRICKIN TEARING UP. Tobey Maguire looks terrible as a red-head, and the special effects of him actually riding a horse are kinda sucky, but I love the rest of it. What's damn amazing about the movies is that they had Gary Stevens (click here to read about this hall of fame jockey) play George Woolf (another hall of famer). Sweet.

And if you want to see the real deal, here's Seabiscuit's match race against War Admiral back in 1938:

My interest in this lately has been heightened by the fact that I watched the entire first season of Jockeys on DVD last weekend. LOVE IT. I also really miss being able to go to the Kentucky Derby...those were some good times. Season 2 just started....so excited!

So, to get to the significance of this post...I will cry during horsey movies every time, but I don't seem to cry a tear during movies where actual people die.

Hmmm...I must come to the conclusion that I have no fucking soul. (And no, I'm not a ginger kid.)

Or maybe I just care about horses more than I care about people. Oops.

Another horse movie that makes me bawl like a damn child is The Horse Whisperer. Well, at least a girl dies in that one, and Scarlett Johansson loses a leg...maybe I get bonus points for that?
