Watch out for those crazies!

I haven't commented on a book lately, so I thought I should mention the one I'm about to finish. It's called Hurry Down Sunshine by Michael Greenberg. It's basically a very descriptive memoir about how his teenage daughter all-of-a-sudden-one-day becomes psychotic.

Yup, she just goes all fucking nutbasket.


I can honestly say that I have had a nervous breakdown before. It happened a few years back and words can't describe the type of despair it puts you in. It's enough to make you never want to be even remotely near that point EVER again. I've never felt more helpless in my entire life.

But a psychotic break? In the book the girl goes through this crazy whacked-out manic stage, they pump her full of all sort of drugs to try to calm the mania, and then she becomes a shell of the person she used to be. She doesn't want to be that way, and you can tell by how she's described in the book (but who knows, maybe that is just her father's hopefulness poking through). I haven't read the end yet, so maybe she ends up okay?
