Save the whales!

Save the cetaceans, to be more specific.

I watched The Cove last night. For those of you that have no idea what I'm talking about, The Cove is a documentary about the gruesome mass slaughter of dolphins that takes place every year in Taiji, Japan.

I personally feel that most documentaries have a tendency to seem more like propaganda, but this one is FAR from that feel. I can honestly say that this documentary has made an impact on my life, albeit a small one. I have decided never to attend Sea World, never to "swim with the dolphins," nor to do anything that would promote the industry of keeping these animals in captivity. And I sure as hell don't want to eat any dolphin meat, given all the mercury they contain!

I don't think I've ever done any of the above, aside from visiting an aquarium from time-to-time, but it's really made me take a step back and look at the idea of wild animals in captivity as a whole. I might never go to a zoo again, honestly. Maybe it's the "tree hugger" in me, but I feel good about the decision. Take a look at the trailer, and I encourage everyone to watch the film...VERY eye-opening.

Song of the day: "Bottom Of The Lake" The Builders and The Butchers (cause these folks in Taiji are butchers)
