I just couldn't help myself (Part 2)

If you haven't read Part 1 be sure to click here.

Moving on....

70.) Pearl Jam, Ten

Even though it came out ten years earlier, "Black" will always remind me of one of my college roommates during my sophomore year. She played guitar, was about four years older than me, and always told me that I reminded her eerily of herself at my age. I will take that as a compliment, thank you very much! I grew up a lot that year, and got a little crazy as well. I think it was part of the beginning of my musical evolution. This year was also the year that I CROWD SURFED FOR THE FIRST TIME. And, thanks to some friends further back that somehow spotted me, I have it on video. (No, I won't be posting it on here...yet...)

"Do duh do do do do doooo...."

66.) Arcade Fire, Funeral

My first day in Seattle was a long one. I got into town early in the morning on day number three of driving alone (puppy dog in-tow of course). Well, I got into town a little too early, because the movers weren't going to be there to unload my stuff for another 2 hours. So, I parked my truck and moving trailer on the street, got the keys to my apartment, grabbed a pillow, blanket, my iPod, and my dog, then proceeded pass out on my new apartment floor, listening to a Seattle playlist I had put together the night before in my hotel room. "Haiti" was one of the songs on that playlist.

65.) Eminem, The Marshall Mathers LP

"The Way I Am" was the theme of my senior year of high school. Period. I was so ready to get out of there.

62.) U2, The Joshua Tree

Sometimes, you just have to "get outta Dodge." Well, in my college years, this meant taking off and razing hell at some other university (usually Indiana University). But, on a whim, some guy friends of mine decided they wanted to take me with them to stay with a couple of their good girl friends that went to Ball State (aka Testicle Tech). "Where The Streets Have No Name" reminds me of one of the guys. I think he lived and breathed U2. Oh, and the road trip to Ball State...the last one I did/probably ever will take there. I've never been around so many mindless stoners in my life. Looking back it's funny, but at the time I'm pretty sure I was incredibly annoyed at said-mindlessness.

61.) Smashing Pumpkins, Siamese Dream

Smashing Pumpkins reminds me of my cousin. She's about five years older than me, and was the first person to introduce me to them when I was young (and unassuming, of course). "Today" was one of the first songs of theirs that I ever heard, and I was instantly hooked. I was more into Smashing Pumpkins than Nirvana, if that tells you anything.

45.) Pixies, Surfer Rosa

"Where Is My Mind" reminds me of sitting at the Clubhouse (a bar that I believe is no longer open? or maybe has a new name now?) in Lafayette, Indiana, drinking a New Castle...when I was 19 or 20 years old. Oops. They didn't care...we were all friends there. It was just the rest of the Outback crew and myself. We had to have somewhere to go, right? And we drank alot...good business for that small place, I suppose. It's all part of working in the serving industry. Work hard for the cash, then use it to party. Oh, the good old days....

42.) Green Day, Dookie

One of the first CD's I ever owned.
It was purchased right alongside Soul Asylum and Snoop Doggie Dogg (as he was called at that time). What can I say, I was making sure to try out a little bit of everything! I can't even pick a specific song that's my favorite...okay, maybe "Welcome to Paradise"...but I honestly still know ALL of the words to EVERY song on this album. Even the secret song at the end, "All By Myself."

34.) Beck, Odelay

"Where It's At." Prom. My freshman year of high school. The most random prom ever. My brother actually begged my dad not to let me go (my brother being that second father figure in my life...he didn't approve of me going with a senior...even though that senior was just my FRIEND). I won out in the end (of course). It ended up being pretty darn amazing. Good times with friends, and our school was notorious at the time for having a GREAT post-prom. That year, it was off to Kentucky Kingdom for a day of amusement park fun. I normally loathe amusement parks because of the annoying crowds, but it was raining that day, and we all took complete advantage and rode as many roller coasters as we possibly could.

28.) Radiohead, The Bends

"Fake Plastic Trees" reminds me of a frat boy I kind of dated for awhile. He was a handsome guy...still is! It was too bad he had just gotten out of a relationship and was on the rebound at the time. (Sooo, I might have taken advantage of that a little....big deal!) I mean, who wouldn't take advantage of the cutie who just so happened to also be the captain of the water-ski team? ;) Present day, what's even weirder....I thought I saw him on the side of the street one day this past fall over in Eastlake while I was driving past. I DID A COMPLETE DOUBLE-TAKE. Thought about yelling something out of my window, but didn't want to look crazy. Go figure, I find said frat boy on Facebook a week later...and IT WAS him, visiting the city for work. RANDOM.

23.) Daft Punk, Discovery

"Harder Better Faster Stronger" (pre-Kanye West, I might add) is the shit. Daft Punk is one of those groups that I haven't seen yet, but must at some point during my lifetime. And that is all.

21.) Oasis, (What's the Story) Morning Glory?

I think my mother probably hated me for listening to "Champagne Supernova" full blast in my room over AND over AND over. I used to do that with a bunch of the songs that I liked, mostly so that I would have the lyrics eternally glued into my brain (still do!).

12.) OutKast, Stankonia

Ah yes, another song that reminds me of an ex-boyfriend of mine from my freshman year in college..."Ms. Jackson" makes me visualize said-ex doing a total "white boy" dance. Oh, it's a beautiful thing. He was a great guy though, we were just too young, and wanted different things out of life. He wanted to stay in the Midwest, live next door to his entire family, and keep completely rooted there...FOREVER. Not so much for this lady. Out of all of my ex's though, he is the only one that I ever thought I could get along with again someday. Alas, we haven't talked in about 4 years, and I completely believe that he's probably married with little kids and the whole-nine-yards. I wish him the best =).

3.) The Smiths, The Queen Is Dead

"Cemetery Gates" brings back a hellish drive from Phoenix to Las Vegas with one of my best friends last year to go to another friend's wedding. Needless to say, we got stuck in traffic at the Hoover Dam for about an hour and a half (go figure). So, The Smiths were key to our sanity...that and the bottle of wine and hundred-dollars worth of sushi we consumed upon landing in the hotel.

So, I hoped you've enjoyed my jog down memory lane along with the tunes. It was good for me! Feel free to add any stories of your own (if there are any I might have missed).

And the entire list (all that I could find of it, that is):
