The upside is that it's the first time I've really experienced this on such a scale here in Seattle. Once...in a year....I think that's a pretty good track record.
When I get burnt out, I like to plan roadtrips. I think it's quite healthy to get away from it all every now and again...and believe me, it's going to be necessary pretty darn soon.
On my list:
1.) Montana - REALLY REALLY REALLY want to see some big sky country. Glacier National Park would be a great destination for me this spring. Quietness and seclusion brings out my inner hermit. I dig my inner hermit.
2.) Olympic Peninsula - I've been to the northern part, now I want to hit up the western part. The Hoh Rainforest and La Push are my main necessities for this one. I think this is where I'm going to head on my extended birthday weekend coming up.
So, until then, I guess live shows, hiking, and horse shows will have to suffice as far as being my outlet. And believe me, I enjoy all of those, but I can't wait to get out of town for a bit!
Also on the agenda for this summer...a trip back home for the 4th of July. That's right....good old Bloomfield, Indiana. What's to see in Bloomfield? Hmmm....well....
1.) It's home of the infamous Tulip Trestle
(photo by John Glascock and Janet Anderson)
For those of you who can't read the bottom of that photo:
Indiana RR, Tulip Trestle, built 1906, 159 ft. high, 2215 ft. long, longest trestle in USA, third longest in the world.
I've walked on that thing a couple of times. Probably not the smartest (nor most legal) thing I've ever done. What's even crazier is that my grandma used to walk across that thing every day to go to school. There were platforms on the sides then, of course, but I bet that trestle shook like hell when a train came across. Scary.
2.) ??? I honestly don't know if there are any other claims to fame in my hometown. Hmmmm.....
Something interesting about this trip...while in town I will be attending my 10-year high school reunion. Wow. I feel old. When did that happen?
I envision that half of our class won't even be there, and the other half will all be cooing over each others babies or talking about the big buck they shot last fall (just joking...well, maybe not so much...). Hey, whatever floats your boat folks. I just couldn't help myself there for a second. I can't talk too much shit, I did go fishing and frog giggin' a few summers back when I was home (I'll explain that one some other day....and yes, there was some alcohol involved).
Ah, me. Just another day in the life of a slightly cynical single gal.....
Song of the day: "Lets See It" We Are Scientists (a new find of mine)
